Traditionally, images of the Scottish landscape present a rugged majesty of glacial formed Glens and Coires, that house pounding waterfalls and wild stag. Combined with the 'unique' quality of the light (generally the sun trying to push through rain clouds) it produces some of the best romantic iconography and internationally recognised landscape...anywhere.
Sealladh 3 brings together a selection of eight artists who have an alternative approach and vision of the landscape. Rather than merely copying a pictorial impression of their surroundings they search through the micro and macro to inform and express individual direction. An emotional response or one that has human presence forms a significant percentage of the artists' concepts. This poetic or scientific response is combined and informed by a palette of colours, an aperture or a spade, which ever appropriate to complete the creative process.
Whether defining the landscape through a mathematical equation, or articulating the symbol of the sun through particular religious symbols, the collective body of artists in Sealladh 3 provide an introduction to refocus our impression of the landscape, and enhance our appreciation of it.
